Teamwork and coaching come naturally to Laura, who played basketball and tennis for Whitworth University in Spokane, and coached softball for the school after graduation. She's still actively involved in sports at both the youth and adult level, and currently serves as a board member (and inductee) of the Inland Empire Softball Hall of Fame.
